Dragon Forum
Dragon Forum's "Polish Documentary Film Academy" gave young film-makers the chance to develop their own documentary film projects through work with accomplished directors from Poland and around the world
The Dragon Forum workshop series also featured seminars about the international film market and hosted both film-maker and film institute representatives to discuss the topic of documentary film and its function in contemporary society. Film showings and meetings with film-makers took place during the evenings. These meetings were open to the public.
As of 2005, "Dragon Forum" has led international activities in the fields of documentary film training and marketing. The organisation's annual workshops (which result in proposals put forward during the "Krakow Film Festival") are a known brand on the international film market. "Dragon Forum" has contacts with filmmakers in the Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, which has already led to various film coproductions ('Mam umerla w subotu na kuchne' / 'I Am Monument To Myself', 'Cranberry Island', 'Robinsons of Mantsinsaari').
"Dragon Forum" has maintained contact with Ukrainian film-makers from the very beginning. Kiev's film community serves as a platform for film learning and exchange between both Polish and Ukrainian amateur and professional film-makers.
The Kiev edition of Dragon Forum - "Polish Documentary Film Academy" ran as an independent film event in collaboration with Dragon Forum's Ukrainian partners, such as The Centre for Modern Information Techniques and Visual Arts, the Ukrainian Documentary Film Center, and the Probliem Suczastnogo Mistestva Institute.
Dragon Forum's director is producer Dorota Roszkowska. She is also the president of the International Association of Future Media. As a previous editor of Polish Television's Channel 2, she collaborated with the European channel ARTE, which led to the airing of many documentary films, international debates and meetings on Polish TV. She is a member of the European Film Academy, the European Documentary Network, the Polish Film Association, the National Audiovisual Producers Network, and a founding member of the New Horizons Association. She also works as a film expert for the European Commission. She has led the firm 'Arkana Studio' since 2003. Her most recent success as a film producer came with the motion picture 'The Mill and the Cross' directed by Lech Majewski and starring Charlotte Rampling and Michael York.
