The event is organised on the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and aims to commemorate this occasion within a more universal context. This is particularly important now, as we confront various armed conflicts around the world and there is a need to talk about global peace. In order to achieve this, we use the language of dance and have invited two outstanding, world-renowned choreographers to create a unique, two-part ballet performance.
Jacek Przybyłowicz is a formidable Polish contemporary dance choreographer who worked with numerous opera, dance, and music theatres in Poland and Europe, created more than 20 performances for, among others, the Polish National Ballet, the Polish Dance Theatre, the Wrocław Opera, the Grand Theatre in Poznań and Łódź, and collaborated with Dantzaz Kompainia in San Sebastián, Beijing Dance LDTX in Beijing, Prague Chamber Ballet, ballet of the National Theatre in Brno and TanzKompanie Giessen.
Itzik Galili is an Israeli-Dutch choreographer, one of the most exceptional contemporary dance choreographers of his generation. His work has been performed by many of the world's most renowned groups, including Stuttgart Ballet, Ballets de Monte Carlo, Batsheva Dance Company, Nederlands Dans Theater II, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Royal Finnish Ballet, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, and Dutch National Ballet.
The title of Jacek Przybyłowicz’s show was borrowed from the largest daily newspaper published in Yiddish in Central Europe. “Der Moment” was a chronicle of the Jewish community living in Poland, with a particular focus on Warsaw, then the largest center of the diaspora in Europe. Among its contributors was Szmuel Szajnkinder, the later creator of the Ringelblum Archive – a collection of testimonies of the Holocaust.
“Until. With / Out.Enough” is an outstanding choreographic work created in 2015 by Itzik Galili for “Quasi Una Fantasia” by Henryk Górecki, whose 90th birthday we celebrate this year. Galili’s work explores the notion of the closed space that exists in our minds and refers, in the dramaturgical and spiritual dimension, to the overarching idea of the project.
