The What Goes Behind... Contemporary Polish Ceramic Design exhibition was presented to the audience of the Inno Design Tech Expo in Hong Kong.
Content
The title of the exhibition on the one hand creates an image of a well-designed and aesthetic object and, on the other, introduces one to the secrets of the creative process itself. Each of the exhibited projects involves a particular philosophy inextricably linked to its creation. The invited designers represent various approaches to design, with the bases for own individual work coming from a wide range of stimuli. Some, like Bartek Mejor and Natasza Grześkiewicz, experiment with materials and combining new technologies with traditional manufacturing techniques. Others, however, prefer interdisciplinarity to form the basis of their projects.
Studying culture and observing the rapidly changing world gives the manufactured object a symbolic meaning, often becoming a socially engaged medium of values, such as in the works of Karina Marusińska, and Alicja Patanowska. All items presented during the exhibition share a common denominator – they are examples of good design from Poland.
Inno Design Tech Expo is one of the major events promoting design in Asia. During the three days of the fair, local businesspeople as well as individual designers and design groups from all over the world have an opportunity to present their work. The Hong Kong expo is part of the prestigious Business of Design Week which sees dozens of lectures and panel discussions with the participation of world-renowned designers, representatives of well-established brands, curators and critics chosen through a strict selection process in order to maintain the highest level of professionalism during the event.
