The Beijing National Center for Performing Arts hosts the National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra playing pieces by Li Huanzhi, Karol Szymanowski and more to wrap up the Polish Presidency Cultural Programme in China
The concert, taking place on the 19th of December, will showcase the Polish National Philharmonic under the baton of Antoni Wit, the philharmonic's musical director. One of China's most renowned young violinists, Zhi-jong Wang, is the evening's featured soloist. Wang, despite her young age, has already attracted international attention and has played with the Chinese National Symphony Orchestra, the Shanghai and Guangzhou Symphony, the Orchestre National de Radio France and the Helsinki Philharmonic, among others.
The evening's programme is:
“Spring Festival Overture” by Li Huanzhi
“Second Violin Concert, op. 61” by Karol Szymanowski
“Eternal Songs” by Mieczysław Karłowicz
“Krzesany Symphonic Poem” by Wojciech Kilar
The concert, which acts as the finale for the 2011 Polish EU Presidency's Cultural Programme in Beijing, has been organised by the Polish Embassy in China together with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. It is the most important cultural event taking place during Polish President Bronisław Komorowski's official state visit to China, who will be in attendance. The event is closed and entrance requires an invitation.
