Artissima is one of the leading international art fairs, branding itself as the "window onto the most experimental frontier of the visual arts". Located in Turin, it welcomes cutting-edge contemporary art galleries from all over the world.
One of the Polish highlights will be the works by Krzysztof Wodiczko, included in the Back to the Future section. It is a specially curated group show, featuring works created between 1960 and 1989, whose aim is to highlight the artists who have played an important role in the history of contemporary art. The exhibition of works by Wodiczko has been co-organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
The Main Section of the exhibitors programme will feature Leto Gallery and the Berlin-based ŻAK | BRANICKA. The former will present a solo show by Honza Zamojski titled ANAKONDA. ŻAK | BRANICKA will offer a group show with works by Stanisław Dróżdż, Marlena Kudlicka, Józef Robakowski, Natalia Stachon, as well as the Croatian artist Vlatka Horvat.
New Entries is an exhibitors section that includes emerging galleries, i.e. those formed less than five years ago. This year, the Polish galleries included in this section are BWA Warszawa, with a solo show by the Wrocław-based artist Kama Sokolnicka, and Starter, a Poznań-born gallery, showing works by Bownik, Dorota Buczkowska, and Anna Zaradny.
Several international galleries also decided to represent some of the Polish authors. They are: Tomasz Kowalski (represented by Gabriele Senn), Maria Loboda (Maisterravalbuena), Marzena Nowak (Gregor Podnar), Piotr Uklański (Massimo De Carlo), and Artur Żmijewski (Peter Kilchmann).
