Aga Zaryan is among the world stars hosted by the Ankara Jazz Festival this year. Her 2006 cover of the original Abbey Lincoln song Throw It Away (1995), fascinated audiences with her captivating voice that brought classical jazz tunes a contemporary appeal.
Zaryan will perform live on stage on 12 June, starting at 20:30 at the Middle East Technical University, Kemal Kurdaş Concert Hall. Zaryan will be accompanied by Michał Tokaj on the piano, Michał Barańskion on the double bass and Łukasz Zyta on the drums.

Aga Zaryan, "Throw it Away" (2006 c0ver)
A singer, songwriter and producer known by her stage-name "Aga Zaryan", Agnieszka Skrzypek was born in Warsaw in 1976. She is considered one of the most internationally recognized jazz vocalists of her generation in Poland. She is known for her distinctive style, elegance and intimate approach to singing, characterized by a lightness of phrasing and warm, slightly matte-toned voice.
Following the traditions of Shirley Horn, Carmen McRae and Joni Mitchell, Zaryan is currently considered at the pinnacle of her career. She has been awarded with numerous golden and platinum records and she was selected as the “Jazz Vocalist of the Year” by the European Jazz Forum Magazine readers from 2007 to 2013. Aga Zaryan received the most prestigious award of Polish music known as the Frédéric Chopin Award in 2008. In the same year, she was nominated for the title “Woman of the Year” by the Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper in Poland.
Aga Zaryan performs for Turkish jazz-lovers within the scope of the 600th anniversary of Turkish–Polish Relations cultural programme, celebrated throughout the year 2014.
