The idea behind European Capitals of Culture is to encourage deeper integration between Europeans. San Sebastian and Wrocław were chosen for the title in 2016. This idea is realised by creating shared programmes and actions in both cities, enabling dialogue between the cities and strengthening ties between them.
The Donostia‐San Sebastián 2016 Foundation intended to bring the spirit of Wrocław dance and theatre to Donostia. The festival’s aim is to underline the value of dance and theatre as a universal language, as well as showing the analogies in understanding the performing arts in both cities. All the performances are connected to the main subject chosen by the San Sebastian festival: Cooperation and Peace.
