WTS 2011 Logo
The event gathers over 70 exhibitors from Poland and abroad, displaying pieces from the eighteenth to the twenty-first Century, from the fields of painting, graphic art and sculpture, but also hidden gems of handicrafts and fine jewellery pieces
Launched in 2003, the Warsaw Art Fair joined the prestigious group of 7 major European art fairs, that features Art Paris, Viennafair, Art Basel, Art Brussels, Europ’Art’Genève, Art Amsterdam and Berlin Art Fair. Representing Central and Eastern Europe, the event is organised by Rempex Sp. z o. o, and displays catalogues of galleries, auction houses, antiques and artists from the whole country. The organisers of the fair aim to hit a target of both professional and amateur visitors from Poland and other countries, from artists to art dealers, private buyers, collectors, public and private institutions and art aficionados.
As Piotr Lengiewicz, owner and chairman of the board of Rempex observes, nine years after the inauguration of the Warsaw Art Fair, the Polish art and antique market has immensely grown, leading to a spectacular ongoing interest in collecting. “Clients are more educated and their collections are more refined and sophisticated when it comes to selecting objects and historic styles. I believe that during the upcoming few years, the professionalization of the Polish market will progress, as well as new collectors will emerge; those will be young people, who concentrate mostly on contemporary art, which will consequently lead to a greater interest in that category of art at the fair.”
Since the creation of the Warsaw Art Fair, its organisers aim is to integrate the worlds of art galleries and auction houses, in the hope of promoting collecting through common actions.
Since visual arts are not represented enough in the medias, such events can break a path towards a greater representation of the field in general.
The list of exhibitors at this year's ninth edition of the fair includes ARTEMIS Art Gallery from Kraków, CZAS Gallery from Katowice, ARTYKWARIAT from Poznan, PIEKARY Gallery and EGO Gallery, BOSZ publishing house from Lesk, OLIMPUS Gallery from Łodz, Maria Dziedziniewicz’s M Gallery and PLATON Gallery from Wroclaw.
The Warsaw Art Fair is organised by Rempex Sp. z o. o. under the honourary patronage of the mayor of Warsaw, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, with the participation of the Royal Castle In Warsaw.
