The exhibition and film Travelling (2018) explores topics from Nailing Love. This project investigates the place of photography in everyday life, here and now. The artist chronicled his life: people, landscapes, food, art that he admired and books that he read. He was interested in exploring the border between photography and life — especially in an era when photos published on social media serve as ‘proof’ of where we are and what we’re doing. It brings up questions, such as: How much of everyday life can photography capture? Is photography as a medium on par with the reality? Or even: How can one portray love? Travelling enabled Wieteska to formulate his perspective on the state of photography in contemporary culture.
This project includes a similarly structured exhibition, film and catalogue, all of which exist in relation to one other. During the exhibition, printed photos were placed on the wall without a frame, composed in a way that was intended to emulate human thoughts.
Wieteska has also worked with some of the biggest Polish media agencies, such as Corporate Profiles, DDB, ITI, Market Link, Young & Rubicom, ZicZac and Leo Burnett. He has created music videos, photos and TV commercials. He has also done photoshoots for ELLE, Glamour, Cosmopolitan and Marie-Claire. His works have been published in Gazeta Wyborcza as well as Rzeczpospolita, Voyage, Pozytyw, Fototapeta and many others. Moreover, Wieteska has launched social campaigns for the Warsaw Hospice for Children (1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002), the Polish Humanitarian Action in Lithuania (2001 and 2002) and the Ministry of Culture. His work has been recognised with awards such as the Kreatura (1995), Pinnacle DDB (1998), Agfa Szansa Pro (1998) and Złoty Orzeł (2000).
Wieteska continues to live and work in Warsaw. He teaches master classes at Nikon Academy and Photo Warm Up and also offers private tutoring.
