"Finally, someone has cropped up in our country who writes books for ordinary people." (Tomasz Lada)
" 'Seans' (Séance) is the best book I have had in my hands for years. There are no games or tricks with form, no postmodernism - this is literature." (Piotr Adamczewski)
"There has never been a book like this. Witold Horwath has created a marvelous, multi-layered story." (Tomasz Cichon)
He graduated in Polish Studies and Psychology from Warsaw University. During the period of martial law he ran a private craft workshop. His work was first published in 1990 - a collection of short stories called Inna Wojna (The other war).
Between 1990 and 1994 he was a columnist for the conservative weekly magazine 'Najwyższy Czas!' ('High Time!'). Between 1993 and 1997 he also published over 100 short thrillers in the magazine 'Nowy Detektyw' ('New Detective'). In 1994 he obtained a diploma in screenplay-writing from the State Institute for Film, Theater and Television in Łódź, and since then he has worked professionally in this area. He was co-author of the screenplay for the popular TV detective series "Ekstradycja" (Extradition) and "Ekstradycja 2". He was also co-author of the feature films Ostatnia misja / The last mission (2000, directed by Wojciech Wójcik) and Nie ma zmiłuj / There is no mercy (2000, directed by Waldemar Krzystek).
Horwath's works include Święte wilki / Holy wolves (1992), Seans / Séance (1997), Ptakon / The offender (1998), and Afrika Korps / The African corps (1999).
"Of course 'Seans' and my other books also have a historical, cultural and sociological background - but if the reader doesn't notice these, he hasn't missed anything, because the plot is the most important. I think that a good education should help the writer to create an interesting plot, but it shouldn't be an aim in itself, as is the case with postmodern literature."
