Mitch & Mitch is one of the most mysterious Polish bands: Refusing to give out interviews, they refer to each other with pseudonyms and call themselves the ambassadors of the US in Poland. The band started out playing country & eastern (their own version of country & western). They presented their debut album Luv Yer Country at the Country Picnic in Poland in Mrągowo. Since then, they have toured Japan, France, Brazil, Israel and Hungary. They expanded their inspirations to Italian songs a la San Remo, Japanese ballads, porn film soundtracks from the 1970s, samba and mambo. The band has changed as well – from a duo to a quintet to the current nine-person lineup.
The musicians cloak their personalities under pseudonyms based on the name ‘Mitch’ (during their collaboration with German electronic artist Felix Kubin, he was referred to as Flexi Mitch). Yet, once the listener arrives at the concert, it becomes apparent that these are well-known faces from the Warsaw alternative music scene: Macio Moretti (leader, bass) of ParisTetris, Starzy Singers, Alte Zachen and 60 minut project as well as Bartek 'Magneto' Tyciński (guitar), known from much of the same bands.
In 2015, Mitch & Mitch collaborated with the Polish Radio Orchestra and Zbigniew Wodecki, a Polish pop star of the 1970s and '80s, to re-record Wodecki's debut 1976 album.
Their most recent EP, Frisco Moods, lists a lineup of Mitch, Mitch, Mr Beatstch, Crackin’ Mitch, Mad Mitch, Mitch The Kid, Spiral Mitch, The (ðe) Mitch, and Luigi a.k.a. Half-Ape Half-Mitch.
