Born in 1990, Bończyk is a graduate of Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań (with honours) and Jerzy Kurczewski Poznań Choir School.
He was a member of The Poznań Nightingales – Boys' Choir of the Poznań Philharmonic (since 2003 known under the name Poznań Boys' Choir, City Culture Institute) with which he performed in e.g. Germany, France, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland and Japan.
He took a part in many different vocal courses, led by Izabela Kłosińska, Eytan Pessen, Anita Garanča, Andrzej Dobber, David Poutney, Adam Kruszewski, Waltraud Meier and many more.
Competitions
Bączyk is a finalist of M. Schneider-Trnavski Vocal Contest in Trnava (2010) and a laureate of: the second and the special prize at the International Competition in Vrable (Slovakia), the third and the special prize at the A. Hiolski International Singing Competition in Kudowa-Zdrój (2014) and the W. Drabowicz Prize.
In 2013, during the Aix-en-Provance Festival (France) he was awarded the Friends of the Festival's Special Prize which effected in an invitation to perform in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute at the Aix-en-Provance Festival in July 2014 and in Francesco Cavalli's Elena, which he performed during the 2013/2014 tour.
In 2016, at International Moniuszko Vocal Competition he received Marta Eggerth and Jan Kiepura Prize for the most promising Polish voice. The prize is awarded by the Kościuszko Foundation.
From Poznań to Zurich
Bączyk debuted in Wielki Theatre in 2011 as the Priest in Dmitri Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District and has been working with the theatre ever since. He took part in such performances as: Eugene Onegin, Aida, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, Parsifal, Carmen, The Marksman and Boris Godunov.
'A young graduate of the Poznań Academy, a name worth being remembered' – wrote Dorota Szwarcman from 'Polityka'. 'A strong, steady voice with a very good diction' – wrote Anna S. Dębowska from 'Gazeta Wyborcza'. 'One of the most vocally talented singers of the current decade' – stated Jacek Marczyński in 'Rzeczpospolita'. Yvan Beuvard from ForumOpera.com wrote: 'Bączyk has a full and strong voice'.
In 2016, he debuted in the Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw (Mozart's The Clemency of Titus) and in Mozarteum in Salzburg (George F. Handel's Acis and Galatea). Since Autumn 2016, the artist has been working with the Zurich Opera (The Capulets and the Montagues, Alcina, Don Giovanni and La bohème).
He collaborated with such conductors as: Jerzy Maksymiuk, Marc Minkowski, Mieczysław Dondajewski, Gabriel Chmura, Pablo Heras Casado, Tadeusz Kozłowski and Łukasz Borowicz.
