Artur Dutkiewicz was born in 1958 in Pińczów (Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship) and has been bestowed the honorary citizenship by his native city. He graduated from the Jazz Department of the Music Academy in Katowice.
In 1988 he had several concert tours with the quartet of Zbigniew Namysłowski. For many years Dutkiewicz collaborated with saxophonist Tomasz Szukalski within the Szukalski/Dutkiewicz Duo and the Tomasz Szukalski Quartet, performing in various European countries. He performed also with such musicians as: Tadeusz Nalepa, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Urszula Dudziak, Deborah Brown, Lora Szfran, Grażyna Auguścik, Michelle Hendrics and Carlos Johnson.
His great success was the solo recital broadcast on the radio at MIDEM in Cannes as well as the recitals at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, Paris and London in 1988. Later on Dutkiewicz played in France with French musicians like Alaine Brunet and Pierre Michelot.
Since 1996 he has been also leading his own bands: Electric Jazz Concert and Artur Dutkiewicz Trio. Within the trio (Łukasz Żyta – drums, Michał Barański – double bass) Dutkiewicz performed the program called Hendrix Piano with jazz renditions of Jimi Hendrix’s works and Prana (2014) consisting of his own compositions. As a soloist he has recorded two albums with his compositions : Blue Path (1989) and Mazurkas (2012)
In July 2011 he took part in the World Culture Festival in Berlin. Together with pianists from around the world he performed a composition for 30 pianos. The concert given to approx. 35 thousand people was an expression of respect for the diversity of cultures and a message of peace to the world.
He has performed at dozens of music festivals around the world including: Jazz Jamboree - Warsaw, Munster Jazz Festival, Northsea Jazz Festival - The Hague, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Festival Opera De Paris, Sziget Festival - Budapest, Int. Jazz Pianists Festival - Kalisz, Jazz Plaza - Havana, Polish Film Festival - Los Angeles, Glasgow Jazz Festival, Thesaloniki Ethno Festival, Duesseldorf Jazz Rally, World Culture Festival - Berlin, Notturni in Palestro Festival - Milan, Sonidos Urbanos - Lima, BJ Ninegates Jazz Festival - Beijing, Kontu Festival - Helsinki, Quimera Festival - Mexico City, Jazz Utsav Festival - New Delhi.
Artur Dutkiewicz is called the 'Ambassador of Polish jazz' for he is one of the Polish jazz musicians who performs abroad most frequently. In recent years he has performed in over 50 countries around the world from the United States through Europe, Hong Kong and Australia. In 2015, the pianist and his trio toured in Australia and New Zealand performing at the major jazz festivals: Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Perth Jazz Festival, Brisbane Jazz Festival, Wellington Jazz Festival as well as in Sydney and Adelaide.
