Since 1971 he has been the member of SBB, one of Poland’s leading progressive rock groups. The 1980s saw the beginning of his co-operation with Tomasz Stańko, both on stage and in the studio (C.O.C.X., Lady Go, Chameleon), as well as collaboration with the bands Krzak and Osjan. During the years spent in Greece Antimos was a sought-after sideman, travelling around the globe as George Dalaras’ drummer. In 1994 his debut solo album Days We Can’t Forget was released and it featured Gil Goldstein, Matthew Garrison, Paul Wertico, Jim Beard and Sugar Blue. Anthimos was also in charge of the band Theatro, but for more than a decade now he has performed with his own trio (assisted by Gary Husband and Mark Egan or Etienne Mbappe). He remains a regularly recording and performing artist.
At present Apostolis Anthimos is engaged in a number of projects, the key one being his trio (Anthimos / Husband / Egan). The artist’s gigs mingle the finesse and sophistication of jazz with the energy of rock.
