Who will perform at the Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors?
The competition will host 50 conductors from around the globe, the majority of the entrants will come from Asia, Poland and the United States.
On 30th June 2017, the participants of the 10th Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors were officially announced at the Silesian Philharmonic. The competition will be held in Katowice from 17th to 26th November 2017.

This year’s edition received nearly 250 applications from around the globe – 171 of the entries from 41 countries fulfilled the required conditions. Three winners of the Young Conductors Competition in Białystok will also perform.

Ten conductors are on a standby list – they will participate in the Competition in the event of someone resigning. Andrzej Kosowski, the director of the Institute of Music and Dance, commented on the list saying that ’once again, music connects instead of dividing‘ and he added that he hopes that ’the Syrian conductor’s participation will be more than symbolic.’
The 2017 Fitelberg Competition
The opening concert will take place on 17th November 2017. The first stage is to take place from 18th to 21st November. The second will take place on 22nd - 23rd November and the final stage is set for 23rd 24th November. The award ceremony will take place on 25th – 26th November in Katowice, and on 27th November the winners will play at the Warsaw Philharmonic. The jury will include Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk (Poland), Tomasz Bugaj (Poland), Mykola Dyadyura (Ukraine), Juozas Domarkas (Lithuania), Piotr Gajewski (USA), Eugeniusz Knapik (Poland), Charles Olivieri-Munroe (Canada), Marek Pijarowski (Poland), Ken Takaseki (Japan), Jorma Panula (Finland) and Michael Zilm (Germany).
