Krzysztof Warlikowski, artistic director of Teatr Nowy in Warsaw received the award "for his courage in seeking out and introducing new topics and new aesthetic solutions in the theater, for releasing the Polish reality from taboo and bringing the discourse on the human condition into the 21st century". Warlikowski admitted he felt strange being referred to as a brand, but expressed the hope that there would be those who want to give and those who want to take.
TR Warszawa's director Grzegorz Jarzyna was commended for "for the master's talent and courage in balancing defiant subjects of formal beauty and harmony, for the most intuitive among Polish artists to interpret the reality of our times and the nature of today's man".
The 2012 Superbrands jury for this special award included representatives of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, which holds Culture.pl in its portfolio of projects, along with journalists from major cultural weeklies such as Newsweek, Polityka and Przekrój.
Superbrands is an international organisation that aims to reward successful brands that have built up the strongest position in its industry. This year's winners were selected by 38 leading Polish experts in the field of branding, marketing and advertising and a group of 2,700 people who took part in a consumer survey. Awards are given on the basis of brand recognition, the brand's unique qualities and the company's relationship with its customers.
The Awards Gala of the sixth edition of Superbrands 2012 was held on the 25th of May 2012 at the Sheraton Hotel in Warsaw.
