The game is being produced by TK Games for mobile devices and web browsers. Its premiere is planned for November 2014, during the Hall of Games computer games fair which will be held in Wrocław’s Hala Stulecia (Centennial Hall).
The plot of the game is formed around missions that are associated with important events in Wrocław’s history or refer to specific places in the city.
The player will take on the role of a hero who finds a map of Europe with some instructions leading to Wrocław. On the map, there is a mention of treasure hidden in the city. Several missions have to be accomplished to discover the treasure. - said Piotr Sobolewski of TK Games.
Sample mission titles from the game include Plac Solny (Salt Square), Gitarowy Rekord Guinnessa (Guitar Guinness Record) and Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island). In the case of the latter mission, the player will act as a lighthouse keeper whose task is to ignite all the lighthouses on Ostrów Tumski. The motif of a dwarf, a symbol of Wrocław, will appear in the game.
The idea for the game was submitted by TK Games - a students' club from the computer science department of Wroclaw University of Technology. It won the competition organised by the Impart 2016 Festival Office - the institution responsible for Wroclaw's preparations to take over the title of European Capital of Culture in 2016. More than 30 works were submitted to the competition.
The competition was won by an idea which includes educational value and tells the story of Wroclaw in an attractive way. This game also has the potential for further development, and, at the same time, will be intuitive to use. – said Krzysztof Maj - the chairman of the jury and the director of the Impart 2016 Festival Office.
Wrocław, along with Spanish city San Sebastian, will be the European Capital of Culture in 2016.
