The Jan Kiepura European Festival in Krynica is considered one of the biggest summer festivals in Poland and this part of Europe, its format supporting the presentation of operas, operettas, symphony music, ballet and theatre performances, promenade concerts and films with Jan Kiepura.
The Jan Kiepura European Festival in Krynica is considered one of the biggest summer festivals in Poland and this part of Europe, its format supporting the presentation of operas, operettas, symphony music, ballet and theatre performances, promenade concerts and films with Jan Kiepura. The Festival events take place mostly in the hall of the Main Pump Room that can seat up to 1000. Theatrical performances and recitals are held in the theatre room with some 500 seats. And the Festival's biggest event, called "Tu gdzie spiewal Jan Kiepura / Where Jan Kiepura Used to Sing" and produced by TVP channel 2, takes place on the promenade against the backdrop of beautiful 19th-century architecture. Polish Radio Jedynka broadcasts the Festival events on a daily basis.
Since 2004 the Festival concerts have also been held in other Polish towns as well as abroad. The first of these "Festival stops" took place at the Main Market Square in Cracow and was followed by others in Toronto and Trzebinia. The 2005 "Festival stops" included Cracow, Warsaw, Gdynia, Szczecin, Poznan, Kielce, Wroclaw, Lancut, Nowy Sacz and Biala Podlaska.
