Seoul, 23-26.10.2013
One of the most prestigious culture and arts celebrations in Korea - Seoul Performing Arts Festival (SPAF) - will host acclaimed play "Crime" performed by the Teatr Polski Bielsko-Biala company.
Seoul Performing Arts Festival (SPAF) is a festival encompassing contemporary theatre, dance, music and multidisciplinary arts, which every year hosts the most prominent directors, theatre artists and experts from around the world. For many, SPAF is the most important event on the artistic map of Korea.
This year, the festival's theme is "Surrealism vs. Reality". On stages of three Seouls's theatres the most interesting recent productions from all over the world will be presented. This year Poland will be represented by the company Teatr Polski Bielsko-Biala with their acclaimed play "Crime" directed by Ewelina Marciniak. The performance, which premiered on 3rd March, 2012, became an important theatre event in Poland. On the 18th National Competition for Productions of Contemporary Polish Plays (18. Ogolnopolski Konkurs na Wystawienie Polskiej Sztuki Wspolczesnej), "Crime" was awarded as the best performance of the year. In the same competition, individual awards were given to Ewelina Marciniak for best director and to Jasmina Polak for her role as the Daughter. Both actresses also won the awards of the Festiwal Prapremier in Bydgoszcz, and Ewelina Marciniak was honoured by "Talent Trojki" award granted by the Polish Radio Program 3 in the theatre category. She was appreciated for creating her own clear vision of the theatre, searching for extraordinary staging solutions and for high social and artistic sensibility.
"Crime" ("Zbrodnia") was inspired by "Premeditated Crime" and "Cosmos" written by a great Polish author Witold Gombrowicz. It is a thriller surrounding the death of a man and search for his murderer with a touch of humor and comedy. The young director and actors in this drama show high-caliber artistry and techniques.
