This year's shortlist – which does not include American institutions – comprises the Parisian La Femis as well as the London NFTS. The journal also reminded its public that in 2014, the ranking was evaluative and the Łódź Film School then came second best, right after the NTFS.
The authors of the 2015 ranking underscored the value of the school by calling this 1948 State-founded institution the most important film school in Poland, with such acomplished graduates as Roman Polański and Krzysztof Kieślowski. The list of the American magazine comprises institutions from Australia, Austria, China, Mexico, Italy, Germany, Morocco, Czech Republic, Russia, France, Great Britian, Israel and Poland. The names of the schools include the Parisian La Femis, praska FAMU, Deutsche Film und Fernsehakademie from Berlin, The NFTS in London and The London Film School. The Łódź Film School is a flagship institution both for Polish cinema and for the city of Łódź itself. Some its first students included Andrzej Munk, Andrzej Wajda, Kazimierz Kutz, with Jerzy Bossak and Jerzy Toeplitz among the fist lecturers. Roman Polański took up studying at the School in 1954, and other prominent graduates of the institution include: Jerzy Skolimowski, Krzysztof Zanussi, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Jan Machulski and Małgorzata Szumowska. Apart from these directors, the prestige and name of the School can also be accounted for by the excellent cinematographers, such as Paweł Edelman, Sławomir Idziak, Dariusz Wolski, Bartosz Nalazek and Magdalena Górka
