The "L'Arte Organica" Festival of Organ Music is a series of organ recitals that has originated from the organ concerts which were held at St Margaret's Basilica in Nowy Sacz in the 1970s. The Festival, which first took place in 2002, features performances by Polish and foreign organ virtuosi selected by Professor Miroslawa Semeniuk-Podraza from the Chair of Organ of the Cracow Academy of Music.
The Festival presents stylistically varied music, from great classics such as Bach and Haendel to works hardly every performed in Poland, written for instance by composers from Mexico or Uruguay. The overriding idea is to promote widely unknown organ music beyond its use for liturgical purposes in the Catholic church.
The Festival, held in the summer months of July and August, makes an extraordinarily valuable cultural offer for the population of the Nowy Sacz region. The sound of the excellent organ of St Margaret's Basilica and the special atmosphere inside this 550-year-old church put the audiences into a unique, contemplative mood which is perfect for the reception of organ music.
