Production and shooting are currently under way for an international blockbuster called, "The Battle of Vienna". Renzo Martinelli is the director of a a film about one of the most important battles in European history. Jerzy Skolimowski has taken on the role of Jan Sobieski III
Other Polish actors have been engaged on set, including Daniel Olbrychski (Gen. Kątski), Borys Szyc (captain Sieniawski) Alicja Bachleda-Curuś, Andrzej Seweryn and Piotr Adamczyk and Wojciech Mencwaldowski (Kulczycki).
The Italian-Polish-Turkish co-production began work on May 2, 2011 in Romania. Shooting will also take place in other European countries, including Poland. The film will consist of over a hundred world-renowned cinema stars, such as: F. Murray Abraham and Enrico Lo Verso (Kara Mustafa) among others.
The film has the support of the Polish authorities and financial grants from the Polish Film Institute. These two institutions have provided the film-makers with 13,000 extras, 3,000 horses and a three-month shooting schedule. The premiere of "The Battle of Vienna" is planned to be screened at St. Peter's Square in Rome on September 11, 2012 - the eve of the anniversary of one of the greatest successes of the Polish army, which decided the outcome regarding the fate of Europe for generations to come.
