After presentation at the BoDW in Hong Kong, Fontarte Studio participated in the International Book Design Forum in Shenzhen...
After the successful presentation at the prestigious Business of Design Week in Hong Kong in early December, Fontarte Studio (Magdalena and Artur Frankowscy) was invited to participate in another event in Asia - International Book Design Forum held in China in the last days of the year.
International Book Design Forum was combined with the 8th National Book Design Exhibition. In its present form the event has been held since eight years as a quatriennale, but its history goes back more than 50 years. 2013 edition took place on 28th-30th December in Shenzhen. The event was aimed at presenting the best new book design in China and promotion of new artists and projects. It was organized by the of the Printing Art Committee of the China Publishers Association and the Graphic Design Committee of the Chinese Artists Association. On 30th December Fontarte took part in the conference "The Art of Book" with the lecture titled "Polish Printed Books. A brief introduction", introducing the audience to the history of Polish book design from the sixteenth century to modern times. The conference was also attended by speakers from Japan - Prof. Nobuo Nakagaki of MeMe Design School, Taiwan - Prof. David Wang and Korea - Yi Ki Kung from Paju Bookcity.
Fontarte's participation in the Business of Design Week earlier this year also resulted in the interview the couple gave to the bilingual Design 360° magazine. This English-Chinese bimonthly with an international scope established in 2005, since 2009 has been three times awarded the Design for Asia (DFA) award. The magazine has also established a long-term cooperation with institutions such as D&AD, AGI, Icograda, Hong Kong Design Centre, Taiwan Design Centre and the International Advertising Festival in Cannes. Interview with Fontarte Studio was published in issue 48.
Fontarte Studio was established in 2004 by Magdalena and Artur Frankowski. They focus mainly on typography and designing books, posters and visual identification of exhibitions, as well as curatorial activities. In 2010, the designers visited Asia for the first time, as curators of the exhibition "Eye on Poland" in Shanghai organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, which presented the best Polish graphic design in recent years. It seems that more Fontarte projects in Asia are yet to come...
