A comic about Jan Karski at the Polish Embassy in Tokyo is the first in a series, Great Poles, aimed at sharing Polish history and culture with the Japanese.
The comics accompany the newsletter from the Embassy. The first series of comics related legends about the beginning of the Polish state and the history of the largest Polish cities. The newly launched series is dedicated to prominent Poles and begins with the story of Jan Karski, the legendary courier and emissary of the Polish Underground States. Written by Rafał Gosieniecki, the Karski comic is available in Japanese and English.
As part of the Year of Jan Karski, the Polish Embassy in Tokyo issued the mini-comic “Jan Karski. Unfinished Mission.” The comic by Rafał Gosieniecki is part of the Embassy’s newsletter, which has appeared in Japanese in cooperation with the Polish Institute and WPHI in Tokyo every two months since September 2012. The newsletter and accompanying comic are published in electronic versions available on the website and social media outlets. They are very popular, especially among Japanese youth, comments the embassy’s website.
