Brave Kids Day in Tbilisi
The Brave Kids Project will be presented at the prestigious Tbilisi International Festival of Theatre on 5th October, 2016. The children and teenagers who took part in Brave Kids in Poland will perform, and documentary films about the project will be screened as well.
Brave Kids Day in Tbilisi is part of the Song of the Goat Theatre Cultural Association's presentation in Georgia, which consists of a Song of the Goat Theatre performance titled Portraits of the Cherry Orchard, workshops on coordination techniques with Grzegorz Bral, and a symposium about the Brave Kids Festival and the Brave Kids project.
Brave Kids Day will take place on the Small Stage of Kote Marjanishvili National Theatre in Tbilisi on 5th October 2016. At the beginning of the event Grzegorz Bral, founder and director of Song of The Goat Theatre, will describe the history of and the idea behind the Brave Kids Project. Iwona Stnakova, head programme manager, will encourage Georgian artists, creators, and producers to collaborate in running the Brave Kids Project in Georgia and neighbouring countries. The President of the Toleranti Association, main organiser of the event in Achalciche, will explain the details of its first Georgian edition, which took place in the summer of 2016.
The second part of the event consists of artistic performances by children and teenagers who took part in the Polish and Georgian editions of Brave Kids. There will be a performance of chanting and dance by teenage Georgian group ‘Caritas Georgia’, Music School no. 5, and the Armenian minority from Achalciche
A majority of those taking part come from societies endangered by social exclusion, but these weekly artistic activities are a chance for them to feel pride in their ethnicity, to increase their self-confidence and self-esteem, and to get in touch with their peers. The children and teenagers will speak about their Brave Kids experiences. For most of them, participation in the project was an opportunity to travel abroad for the first time. In an atmosphere of friendship they prepared performances with their peers from various parts of the world.
The documentary film Brave Kids: Children of the World directed by Katarzyna Kowalska and the promotional trailers for the upcoming editions of the project will be screened at the end of Brave Kids in Tbilisi.
The Song of the Goat Theatre will perform Portraits of the Cherry Orchard directed by Grzegorz Bral on 4th and 5th October in Royal District Theatre. Furthermore, Adrian Podgórny, executive producer of Brave Festival will speak about the Brave Kids Project in Tbilisi.
The Song of the Goat Theatre Cultural Association has organized the Brave Kids Project since 2009. For almost 4 weeks, 144 young artists from 19 different countries participated in the 7th edition of Brave Kids in 2016. The project took place in 4 cities in Poland and 2 abroad: in Slovakia and Georgia.
