A sitting of the jury of the Art Critics Association (Associação Paulista de Críticos de Arte) took place in São Paulo on 2nd December 2015. The jury chose the most important productions of 2015 across the following categories: architecture, film, visual art, literature, rock music, radio, theatre, theatre for children, TV, and finally, for the first time, fashion.
José Henrique Fabre Rolim, the head of the APCA said:
This year's winners represent various forms of artistic work. The lack of two categories, classical music and dance, this year, will strengthen their position in the next edition.
The jury included: Aguinaldo Cristofani Ribeiro da Cunha, Carmelinda Guimarães, Edgar Olímpio de Souza, Evaristo Martins de Azevedo, Gabriela Mellão, José Cetra Filho, Kyra Piscitelli, Marcio Aquiles, Maria Eugênia de Menezes, Michel Fernandes Miguel Arcanjo Prado and Vinício Angelici.
Winner of the theatre APCA, the Tadeusz Kantor Machine exhibition was organised by Culture.pl for the centenary of the most important Polish artist of the 20th century. This extensive monographic exhibition was held at the Sesc Consolação in São Paulo and was the first event in a series presenting Polish culture in Brazil planned for 2016.
The APCA was established in 1951 as the Brazilian Theatre Critics Association, but in 1956 the name was changed to the Theatre Critics Association in São Paulo. In 1972, after restructuring the APCA, the Art Critics Assocciation in São Paulo was created. The organisation brings together critics in various fields such as theatre, visual art, popular and classical music, television, dance, theatre for children, and radio. The Troféu APCA is awarded to the best productions of the year in the previously-mentioned categories as well as in architecture and fashion.
The award ceremony took place on 15th March 2016 at Teatro Paulo Autran in Sesc Pinheiros.
