A Statement on Ukraine from Our Russian Section
Dear Culture.pl Readers,
We’ve been writing for you for many years now about Polish culture in English, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian. Our multi-national team believes that our task is to build bridges between countries and peoples.
Getting to know people who speak a different language, who live with different traditions, we enrich ourselves. We understand that the world is very varied, but it also has so much in common.
As regular readers know, we are not a news service, so we rarely comment on things happening in current affairs. But Culture.pl is part of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, a state-run cultural institution overseen by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and this fact combined with our publishing in both Russian and Ukrainian compels us to clarify that we stand with Ukraine, a country with which Poland shares both a border and a lot of history. We want to share this statement from our friends and colleagues from our Russia Section:
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a crime against another people, another country, another culture. What is happening today is destroying not only Ukraine, but also Russia. Every person who adds their voice to the echo of false propaganda that justifies aggression and massacres, destroys the future of the Russian and Ukrainian peoples and their cultures. Our Russian team members in particular feel it is the duty of every Russian to fight against Putin and his criminal accomplices. We would like to reiterate that none of our team support this invasion in any way whatsoever.
