Culture.pl talks to the major players at the Transatlantyk Festival in Poznań (05.08.2011 - 13.08.2011), from Oscar-winning composer and festival director Jan A.P. Kaczmarek to 2011 Transatlantyk award winners Bartosz Chajdecki and Bjørn Lomborg
Young composer Chajdecki received the Oceans Award for his original musical score for the "Czas Honoru" (Time of Honour) television series, while controversial scientist, academic, writer and filmmaker Lomborg won the award for his pro-environmental activism and his role in Ondi Timoner's film "Cool It".
The event features hundreds of screenings, open-air concerts, discussion panels, workshops and master classes with international guests from the film, art and music industry. The ultimate goal of the festival is to stimulate open debates on current social topics. "Open, Bold and Glocal" is the festival's ideology, focusing on local identities and actions with simultaneous understanding of their reflective impact on a global scale.
