Transatlantyk is an award organised annually by the Book Institute. It honours prominent promulgators of Polish literature across the world. Only non-Polish citizens are eligible for the award, including persons of Polish nationality with foreign passports. The candidatures can be submitted by Polish and foreign cultural institutions, as well as research centres, publishing companies, artistic associations, and individuals.
The winner is selected by Ireneusz Kania, Ksenia Starosielska, Beata Stasińska, and Olga Tokarczuk, with the director of the Book Insitute presiding over the process. The prize consists of an award of 10 000 EUR and a statuette. The official award ceremony takes place on the 21st of June, 2013.
