The annual Conrad Festival is the most important event on the Polish literary calendar. The third edition of the Festival bases its theme on the "search of lost worlds".
The Festival attracts major representatives of world literature. Among the invited writers are both winners of prestigious awards, as well as the world's best-selling authors - high literature meets popular writing, journalism, film, theater and music. Past editions have drawn such global literary greats as Pascal Quignard, Etgar Keret, Per Olov Enquist, Claude Lanzmann, Herta Müller, Amos Oz as well as a group of Polish eminent writers and journalists. The event has become a recognizable brand and a symbol of a great international feast of literature.
The third edition of the Festival is themed: "In search of lost worlds". The five-day event is divided into five thematic sections, among which are "Lost Worlds", "Immigration", "Travels”, "Translations" and "Imaginary Worlds". All festival events (which include film screenings, concerts and theatrical performances) are affected by an understanding of different ways of experiencing loss. As in previous years, the young readers will take part in a series of "The reading lesson", discussing selected literary works with the writers, critics and distinguished literature specialists.
