La stratégie des antilopes is already the third book by Jean Hatzfeld to deal with the atrocities of the civil war in Rwanda (the other two being Dans le nu de la vie and Une Saison de machettes). In "La stratégie des antilopes", Hatzfeld returns to Rwanda to once again talk to the victims and perpetrators of the genocide. He arrives in Rwanda at the time when many Hutus have been released from prisons while others return from exile in Kongo. Now, the Tutsi once again have to welcome their old new nieghbours.
In 2007, La stratégie des antilopes was awarded with Prix Médicis.

The Capital City of Warsaw has established the Ryszard Kapuściński Award, which will be awarded yearly to the author of the best literary reportage. Warsaw's partner in organizing the competition is the daily "Gazeta Wyborcza". The honorary patron of the award is Alicja Kapuścińska, the late writer's wife.
Ryszard Kapuściński, the world renowned and famous writer, journalist, and intellectual, was associated with Warsaw for over sixty years. He went to school in Warsaw - to the Stanisław Staszic Secondary School, he studied history at the University of Warsaw, and he worked at the Polish Press Agency (PAP) and the magazines "Sztandar Młodych", "Polityka", "Kontynenty", and "Kultura". This was where he published his books, mainly through the Czytelnik publishing house, though the final ones appeared in instalments in "Gazeta Wyborcza". Warsaw is also where he is buried - in the Avenue of Professors at Powązki Military Cemetery.
The Ryszard Kapuściński Award for literary reportage, founded by Warsaw's local government and organized together with "Gazeta Wyborcza", with which the writer was associated from its inception, is the Polish capital's way of paying homage to the great writer and reporter. I do not need to convince anyone", emphasizes Alicja Kapuścińska, "that Ryszard contributed to steadily strengthening the position of reportage as a literary genre over the past half-century. Ryszard received many awards and distinctions, in Poland and across the world. This is the latest one.
