The film festival runs from 27th November to 4th December 2015. One of the biggest events in the programme is a retrospective of documentaries and cinematographic works of Wojciech Staroń, one of the most renowned Polish cinematographers and documentary makers.
The Trades of Cinema series will give the Italian audience a chance to watch nine films directed by Staroń, including some of his award-winning documentaries: Siberian Lesson, For a While and El Misionero, as well as Argentinean Lesson which won an award at the 2011 edition of the film festival in Florence and received over 20 other awards and honourable mentions elsewhere.
The retrospective programme also includes films directed by other filmmakers which feature Wojciech Staroń as cinematographer. These include the documentaries Glass Trap by Paweł Ferdek, Silence and Darkness by Paweł Kędzierski, and Six Weeks by Marcin Janos Krawczyk. It also feature films such as Refugiado by Diego Lerman and El Premio by Paula Markovitch, the film which won Staroń an award in Berlin.
On 1st December, there will be a Q&A discussion with the director himself. Staroń will also lead workshops as part of the event.
The homage to Wojciech Staroń continues to prove just how important Polish documentaries are in Florence. In 2013, the festival presented an homage to Marcel and Paweł Łoziński.
