"The creation of light - stained glass-works by Adam Stalony-Dobrzański" presents works selected from over 200 projects of stained glass designs made by the artist for the Polish Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Evangelical churches
The exhibition consisting of original works, copies and a gallery of large format photograms show the artist's talent - a painter, graphic designer, art conservator and professor of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków.
While maintaining a fully traditional, glass-lead formula of a stained glass composition, Adam Stalony-Dobrzański, defines entire new measurements of the artistic language for this field. He discovers a stained glass-work for modern abstraction, close to cubism, presenting an alternative unlimited creative freedom when selecting the lead's colors and graphics, reaching a chiaroscuro. It sets the subject of stained glass between painting and scultpure yet as a separate domain of art.
The concept of the composition and scenography refers to the plan of a Christian temple. The viewers first experience is with "Narteks", when he learns about the hermetic process of creating stained glass. The following "Nawa" is an opportunity to review original pieces made by the artist himself. "Prezbiterium" in the form of an animated film etude, shows the details of each piece and the monumental forms made according to the artist's projects.
Adam Stalony-Dobrzański (1904-1985), an artist of ancient sacred art enraptures with bold colors and dynamic drawings.
