Violinist and conductor Maxim Vengerov, considered to be one of the world's most dynamic artists directs the Polish Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra during their concerts in Turkey, Austria and Germany
After
La Folee Journee in Japan, the musicians of
Sinfonia Varsovia set out on their next international tour.
The Violin Concerto and 6th Symphony "Pathétique" composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky are in the orchestra's repertoire, as well as Roxana's Song from the opera
King Roger by
Karol Szymanowski. The tour is coordinated by the
Adam Mickiewicz Institute and is a part of the Polska Music programme (www.polskamusic.pl).
Maxim Vengerov began his musical career at the age of five. Crowned with world-wide success as an instrumentalist, he then turned towards conducting. Vengerov has proved exceptionally talented also in this role, and performs with leading orchestras worldwide.
Renowned soloists perform with the Sinfonia Varsovia on the tour. In Istanbul and Essen, the orchestra plays with Renaud Capuçon. The laureate of various prizes, educated in Paris and Berlin, French violinist Capuçon plays the "Panette" instrument of Guarneri del Gesù from 1737, previously owned by Isaac Stern. Nikolai Tokarev performs the piano solo parts during the Bregenz and Baden-Baden concerts. Tokarev was born in Moscow and educated in the Moscow Gnessin Musical School, as well as in Manchester and Dusseldorf. He performed his first solo concert at the age of 6, and by the time he was 14, he was touring in Europe and in Japan.
Sinfonia Varsovia under the baton of Maxim Vengerov will tour Turkey, Austria and Germany from May 15-23, 2011.
