In May 2011, as part of the Polish Music Programme coordinated by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Sinfonia Varsovia first appeared at Sanat Hall in Istanbul, arousing great interest in Turkish audiences as well as music critics. Thus was born the idea of continuing the Polish-Turkish musical cooperation.
During the 42nd Istanbul International Music Festival, Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra will be working in residence and presenting various performances as well as workshops. Participating in the event are soloist - pianist Piotr Anderszewski , violinist Julian Rachlin and viola player Yuri Bashmet. Polish Orchestra and the National Philharmonic Choir will be conducted by Andres Mustonen, as well as conductors Jakub Hrusa and Krzysztof Penderecki. Throughout the event particular emphasis will be placed on Polish music by composers such as Karol Szymanowski and Krzysztof Penderecki.
The International Festival in Izmir will present music by Frederic Chopin, conducted by the Sinfonia Varsovia in collaboration with pianist Hüseyin Sermet. Krzysztof Penderecki will also lead the performers.
