Ida From the World of Festivals
Pawel Pawlikowski’s Ida (2013), featuring Agata Trzebuchowska, Agata Kulesza, Dawid Ogródnik, Jerzy Trela, Adam Szyszkowski, and Joanna Kulig will be screened as part of the premiere showcase of highlights from recent international festivals, representing the latest trends in world cinema. Winner of 2013 London Best Film, Toronto Prize and Les Arcs Best Film, Pawlikowski’s Ida is set in Poland in the 1960s. Shot in black and white to better embrace the gloomy atmosphere of the era, the film traces the bitter trails of the Nazi occupation and the Holocaust. With its distinctive cinematography, Ida appeals as the first film Pawlikowski shot in his home country.
Moreover, as part of Meetings on the Bridge, an accompanying event organized within the framework of the festival, Wojciech Staroń , who - together with Krzysztof Ptak - worked on the cinematography for Papusza, will host a master class and public discussion about the making of the film. In addition to screenings of Polish features, there will be a separate series of screenings in three parts covering Polish Experimental Animations. Find out more about the event: Polish Experimental Animation: An Anthology in Three Parts
Winners of the festival's competitive sections will receive their awards at the closing ceremony. For the full festival program, go to film.iksv.org/en.
