Nine Polish films compete for the Big Stamp prize at this year's ZagrebDox International Documentary Film Festival
More than 140 film productions from around the world are on the programme at the 7th ZagrebDox International Documentary Film Festival. Among them are nine films from Poland:
Deklaracja nieśmiertelności" / "Declaration of Immortality, directed by
Marcin Koszałka A film about transience, the inability to come to terms with old age and the desire for immortality.
Inwentaryzacja" / "Inventory, directed by
Paweł ŁozińskiA short, metaphorical tale of undertaking a problem of memory, identity, finding traces of a not-so-distant past.
Jutro..." / "Tomorrow ... directed by Bartek Kruhlik
Depicts a day in the life of an elderly woman who holds a particular approach to life that allows her to deal with the world around her.
Kawałek lata" / "A Piece of Summer, directed by Marta Minorowicz
A film which tells of the special relationship linking grandfather and granddaughter with the beautiful Bieszczady nature as a backdrop. The documentary previously qualified for the main competition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.
Oj Boże, drogi Boże" / "Oh God, dear God, directed by Julia Popławska
A peaceful and quiet day in the life of an aging married couple living in a small wooden house, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Poza zasięgiem" / "Out of reach, directed by Jakub Stożek
The story of two teenage sisters, who in heir formative years try to rebuild complex family relationships, for years neglected by the adults around them. The documentary received an award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2011 in the short film category.
Przesłuchanie" / "Interrogation, directed by Adam Palenta
A ten-minute film about the will to live and cruelty of the totalitarian system.
Smolarz, directed by Piotr Złotorowicz
Astory about Marek and Janina, who live far from civilisation in the middle of the mountains, leading a life in tune with nature.
Wycieczka" / "Excursion, directed by Bartosz Kruhlik
The story of 13-year history of Joanna (Asia), whose grandfather teashes her how to ride a scooter.
One of the winners of last year's edition was Polish director
Wojciech Kasperski who showed his film "Otchłań" / "Limbus. He was awarded the Big Stamp for best young documentary filmmaker.For more information on the festival, see:
