Together with Loftas Fest held in August, Vilnius Music Week is one of the most important Lithuanian events connected to contemporary music. Its first edition was organised in 2011 as an international music festival for young artists. Three years later, the first Polish bands showed up on the line-up: Non-Human Persons and Rebeka. Following successful performances, they became popular amongst Lithuanian audiences and started to give concerts regularly at the Loftas venue, one of the most renowned spots on the music map of Lithuania.
The event is part of the Don’t Panic! We’re from Poland project, which aims to promote Polish music. It has already had much success around the Baltic. In 2015, the Loftas Fest organisers came to Poznań to take part in a series of concerts called Spring Break. Amazed at the potential of the Poles’ music, they invited several Polish artists to perform.
Beside the concerts there will also be a panel discussion devoted to the possibilities offered to young Lithuanian bands by managers involved in the Polish music market.
