Written and directed by Grzegorz Jaroszczuk, Frozen Stories was awarded an honourable mention at one of Europe's premier short film festivals. The film was one of two Polish productions in the International Competition, alongside Przemysław Adamski's Noise
Frozen Stories is a feature short about two supermarket employees who try to change their lives by trying to get on television. The film is a perverse tale of two social outsiders and their attempts to overcome the impasse in life. The film was recently presented in the Narrative Shorts section at Sundance and at the European Film Prize. It won the Grand Prix for Best Short at the AFI Festival in Los Angeles in 2011.
The second Polish film shown at the festival, Przemysław Adamski's animated short Noise, puts sound in the hot seat, giving them a life of their own as they interact with images and people, creating a world on the boundary of reality and imagination.
Polish productions are also present at the Film Market. Visitors to the Polish Shorts booth, organised jointly with the Kraków Film Foundation, presents the latest short films and acts as a liaison between Polish filmmakers and the global cinema industry has prepared a stand showing the achievements of Polish short films. The Kraków Film Foundation is also a partner of the Euro Connection Forum together with Sauve Qui Peut le Court Metrage in collaboration with the Marche du Film Court de Clermont-Ferrand, CNC and Media Desk France, which is an event dedicated to the art of pitching short film projects. The Wajda Studio's Mleczny Brat/ Milk Brother and Grzegorz Korczak's Heart Core are among the projects looking for foreign co-producers.
The International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand is on between the 27th of January - 4th of February, 2012. At last year's festival Mart Minorowicz won the grand prize for her documentary A Piece of Summer.
