Festival-goers will be able to catch the subtle, slow, deep music of Coals at Kino Šiška on Thursday and two acts from the Polish electronic scene are scheduled for Friday. First the fresh duo Sotei - producer Teielte and drummer Sobura will present their vision of bass and post hip-hop music. After that, Teielte will craft a solo set which will demonstrate how hip-hop’s instrumental realm is closely related to club, dance and electronic music.
A large number of delegates will represent the Polish industry at the conference, including Paweł Trzcinski (Distorted Animals, OFF Festival), Magda Chołyst & Magdalena Jensen (Chimes Agency), as well as representatives from OFF Festival and the Spring Break Festival. Plus, there will be a whole panel dedicated to the Polish music market called Welcome to Poland, with Tomasz Waśko (Go Ahead, Spring Break), Tony Duckworth ([PIAS] Poland and Eastern Europe), Jacek Skolimowski (Newsweek Poland, Polnisches Institut Berlin) and Ania Kasperek (Chimes Agency).

MENT Ljubljana, along with Tallinn Music Week, has become the second most important showcase-networking event in the region, so naturally Poland has to be represented in 2017 and in the years to come. It seems essential that Polish artists and professionals be there, building connections with delegates and musicians from the region, who are not usually in the places where Don’t Panic! We’re From Poland has been working for years.
In 2016, MENT continued operating as a music export office, supporting Slovenian musicians and music professionals at similar events abroad and helping them with promotion, networking and production.
Within the framework of the MENT platform, 12 Slovenian acts performed at various foreign festivals and venues in 2016: BLAŽ, BOWRAIN, ČAO PORTOROŽ, JARDIER, KARMAKOMA, KOALA VOICE, LENI KRAVAC, LIAMERE, LUDOVIK MATERIAL, NIKKI LOUDER, PRISMOJENI PROFESORJI BLUESA aka THE WACKY BLUES PROFESSORS and THE CANYON OBSERVER. In total, they performed 38 concerts at 12 international events – the international festivals Eurosonic, Tallinn Music Week, WestWay Lab, INmusic, Waves Vienna, BuSH – Budapest Showcase Hub and Taksirat, and at MENT events in Bratislava, Zagreb, Pecs, Belgrade and Niš. In addition, the INmusicMENT event took place within the framework of MENT at Hangar Bar in Izola, Slovenia, featuring five bands. Meanwhile, based on their performances at MENT 2016, Slovenian acts were also featured at festivals such as Europavox (France), SuperUho (Croatia), Pohoda (Slovakia), Rock for People (Czech Republic) and others.
