Formally titled the Lviv International Literary Festival, the fair was founded in 1997 and has since become one of the most important cultural events in Ukraine. It is the biggest literary festival in the country and one of the most popular festivals in Central and Eastern Europe.
Jarosław Mikołajewski was born in 1960 in Warsaw. He is a poet, essayist, journalist, childrens’ book author and translator. His translations from Italian (eg. of Dante, Petrarch, Michelangelo, Montale, Ungaretti, Levie, Pasolini) are poetic artworks – they may be considered part of the translator’s lyrical output.
The second important current of Mikołajewski’s works consists of prose stories about Rome. All of those essays and reportages, about history and contemporaneity of Eternal City, full of cultural references and erudition, are collected in his personal guidebook Rzymska Komedia (Roman Comedy) and in a storybook titled Dolce Vita.
The 11th edition of Lviv International Literary Festival will take place during the 23th Publisher’s Forum in Lviv – forum’s programme is available in English HERE. Mikołajewski will present My Wife’s Spine on 16th September 2016 in Libraria Speak Easy Bar in central Lviv.
