The Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibiton is organized by Agora Gallery in New York, which hunts down and promotes new blood in contemporary art. Kraków artist Marcin Ryczek's photography Man Feeding Swans, which has already taken over the internet, has been selected by the jury.
Ryczek has commented on the nominated image:
I made this shot off of Grunwaldzki Bridge in Kraków. At first, I saw an unusual contrast painted over nature - white snow and the black of the Vistula River, separated by a neat line of water. This scene reminded me of a yin-yang symbol and that was the initial concept for this image. Through the nature - on a black background appeared white swans and on the white background a black figure, I photographed the moment, admiring this extremely simple and reflective scene.
Along Ryczek's stunning black and white photography, the exhibition will feature 32 artists from a dozen different countries: Alexander Churchill, Amy Gilvary, Andreas Tomblin, Andrew K. Currey, Anna Pont, Brandy Trigueros, Curtis Salonick, Denise Dethlefsen, Ivannia Lasso, Janet Rossi, Joan Taltavull, Joaquin Amaya, Joel Trieger, John Ilg, John Nieman, Judith Vergara Garcia, Keiko Tomita, Lauren Haggis, Mack Gingles, Maria Jose Vicuña, Mario Caccia, Mark Lloyd, Marlen Peix, Michael Woodle, Nicoletta Balani, Renee De Gagne, Riette Steenkamp, Rudy Bortolini, Sergio Nates, Songnyeo Lyoo, Tom Uebelherr, Tuco Amalfi.
The exhibition will take place on August 22 and run until September 11 at Agora Gallery in New York.
