The concert took place on 23rd March 2017. The composition Donghwasa for violin, sanjo gayageum and piano was ordered by Yoori Kim, Artistic Director of the Modern Ensemble. The piece was performed by Korean musicians: Jihay Kim (violin), Yunsuk Eom (sanjo gayageum) and Hyojin Chung (piano). Moreover, on 21st March 2017 Marcel Chyrzyński delivered a lecture titled 'Reflection No. 4, Donghwasa and Ukiyo-e No.3 – from inspiration to realization' and conducted master classes for students of the composition department at the Inje University in Gimhae. Marcel Chyrzyński obtained his Master's degree (with distinction) from the Academy of Music in Kraków in 1995, where he studied composition with Prof. Marek Stachowski, orchestration with Prof. Krzysztof Penderecki and computer music with Marek Chołoniewski, Richard Boulanger, Cindy McTee and Rodney Oaks. Since 1994 he has worked as a lecturer (since 2010 as an associated professor) at the Academy of Music in Kraków in the Departament of Composition, Conducting and Theory of Music. In 1998 he was awarded a doctorate in composition, and the habilitation in 2010. Since 2014 he has been a director of the Institute of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory. He was a guest lecturer at numerous music schools and universities, including the Universidad National Autonoma de Mexico – Escuela National de Musica in Mexico City, the University of Pretoria – Department of Music in Pretoria, the Yeungnam University in Daegu (South Korea) and during the Composer Workshop in Takefu (Japan).
