This annual series of workshops in choreography were started up by Krzysztof Pastor, director of the Polish National Ballet at the Grand Theatre - National Opera House, with the aim of giving Polish dancers the opportunity for a choreographic debut. Participants in the workshops create their routines from scratch - just like tried professionals
Dancers involved in the Kreacje 3 series are given free rein regarding the concept, preparation, organisation, and promotion of a ballet performance using their own resources. The very first two Polish National Ballet workshops, initiated by Grand Theatre director Krzysztof Pastor in 2009 and 2010, yielded some interesting proposals, including choreography by Robert Bondara and Jacek Tyski. Robert Bondara's 2009 ballet - "When You End and I Begin…", set to music by
Paweł Szymański - is now officially presented as part of the ballet company's chamber repertoire. In 2010 Jacek Tyski received the opportunity to stage his new ballet, "In Search of Colours", to the music of
Grażyna Bacewicz. Both works by these two young Warsaw choreographers are now part of the programme of the Polish National Ballet's chamber evening entitled Alpha and More at the
National Theatre - Grand Opera House.
Workshops are an integral part of the artistic development of every decent ballet school, and every decent dance theatre in the world. They fulfil a dual role: firstly, they provide an opportunity to see the latest works of talented choreographers, and secondly, they shed a spotlight on the young, as yet unknown dancers, who through ventures of this kind are likely to show their best skills. Pastor's workshops give them an even broader range of possibilities. The members of the ballet company have to deal with a heretofore-neglected area of management - the organisation of a piece, production management, advertising and promotion. They themselves have to edit programmes, take photos, coordinate ticket sales and distribution of invitations, costume and stage design, all the while maintaining order on the stage and behind the scenes. (...) It is good that the dancers of the Polish National Ballet have the energy and enthusiasm to continue to learn, experiment and share their experiences with the rest of the team.

Krzysztof Pastor gave his opinion on how the significance of these workshops:
Choreography workshops should be an intrinsic element in the life of any ballet company with the ambition of developing its own artistic image. This is why I have introduced them as a regular element of creativity at the Polish National Ballet. Without searching for new paths, means of expression, a new language of dance, ballet would be an art of little interest, presenting no challenges. A leading ballet company, apart from presenting familiar repertoire, should be creative, seek its own artistic solutions, propose ballets by new choreographers, including those who are members of the company.
After two presentations of Creations I feel that this project has largely fulfilled my expectations. However, I would like to make sure the dancers are not afraid to experiment with choreography and everything else related to developing a production. The creative process should mobilize them to search for original proposals in different sections of theatre work. It is worth remembering that the work of the young choreographers and dancers taking part in the project is completely voluntary. The aim is for them to develop the determination and skills necessary in creative work and to undertake an extra effort. This year I have developed certain rules as a starting point for building the form of the workshop production as a whole. I have proposed a central theme - free artistic statements focusing on the legend of Vaslav Nijinsky. My aim was not to restrict the dancers' creative freedom, but only to encourage them to undertake a choreographic quest within a predefined area. However, they had the right not to act on this suggestion, because the main purpose of our workshop regulations is to create equal opportunities for everyone involved to carry out their original ideas.
