After the success of his trio's tour of the largest jazz festivals in Australia and New Zealand during 2015, Artur Dutkiewicz is returning this year for a series of solo concerts. The tour, one of the longest ever taken by a Polish artist around the Antipodes, takes in 10 dates across a month, with Dutkiewicz making his way from New Zealand to Australia and back again, ending with a performance at Te Papa, New Zealand's national museum.
His performances will include his own compositions, including mazurkas from his 2012 album Mazurki inspired by Polish folk music, linking elements of classical music with jazz improvisation. At Whittaker's Music Museum in Waiheke Island, Dutkiewicz will be performing on a grand piano once owned by Ignacy Jan Paderewski , one of the many pieces of musical history found at the venue.
