The International Mime Art Festival is organised each year by Teatr Na Woli and Warsaw Mime Centre. Presenting pantomime theaters from around the world, the event attracts crowds of mime-admirers from Poland and abroad.
The festival showcases contemporary pieces of this beautiful and ever-developing form of theatre. The event which takes place at the Teatr na Woli in Warsaw has been declared the only festival in the world to host strictly performances devoid of words.
A variety of forms, stories and styles employed within the art of mime are presented during Mime Art Festival. The organisers of the festival believe that this variety proves the richness of their common source.
This major international festival also comprises an educational programme. Renowned artists from Europe and the USA conduct workshops during the festival, open to all those who wish to try their hand at this very demanding genre of theatre.
Bartłomiej Ostapczuk has been the festival's director since 2005. Ostapczuk is a mime actor, playwright, director and the coordinator of many mime-related events in Poland. He is also the founder of Warsaw Mime Center.
The 11th edition of the festival hosts performances from France, Germany, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Israel and Poland.
As in the past years, we recommend the Modern Mime Evening.
It is a presentation of scenes created during the festival, performed by many artists from across the world. Students of the international course from the School of Modern Mime also participate in the evening. The workshops are another noteworthy part of the festival (...) Prominent artists from Europe and the USA invite all those interested to their master classes.
