The Grand Theatre - National Opera in Warsaw plays host to this year's edition of one of the major expert events in the world of opera. The International Conference of the OPERA EUROPA Association focuses on the current challenges and crucial issues related to the management, development and transformation of opera houses as global strategic cultural institutions
The comprehensive scope of the conference facilitates the analysis of the most important issues related to art management in an exhaustive manner. The conference also provides an opportunity to identify the needs and development directions of opera houses as strategic cultural institutions all over the world. A wide range of opera-related issues, from artistic concepts to technical aspects, will be discussed. Discussion panels encompass such topics as: identity, branding, internal and external communication, cooperation between opera and ballet, human resources management and conflict management. In addition, the politics of good practices will be discussed to illustrate the idea of added value, which emerges as a result of consciously built relationships.
During the conference the participants have the opportunity to see Giacomo Puccini's "Turandot" directed by Mariusz Treliński, Iannis Xenakis' "Oresteia" directed by Michał Zadara and Krzysztof Pastor's "I przejdą deszcze..." / "And the Rain Will Pass…" with the music of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki with the participation of the Polish National Ballet, Choir and the Orchestra of the Grand Theatre - National Opera.
The Grand Theatre - National Opera is one of the 117 members of the Opera Europa Association, which come from 35 countries. In November 2010, the General Director Waldemar Dąbrowski was appointed the Member of the Management Board of this association. The organisation of this year's edition of the conference is not only honour and a great pleasure for the Grand Theatre - National Opera but it also confirms the major role that this institution plays in the world of opera today.
The Opera Europa Conference is an expert event organised as part of the International Cultural Programme of the 2011 Polish EU Presidency.
