If you find yourself drifting aloof from the post-Skaldic verses in the streets of Warsaw or Krakow, don't panic, it's just Icelandic poetry - part of the ORT Project Poems from Iceand/ Poems from Poland
ORT is being carried out in the streets and libraries of Polish and Icelandic cities. Short, translated poems from over 20 poets from the two nations are being spray-painted anywhere we might rest our eyes while rushing to work or the supermarket.
Moreover, poets, musicians, and performers from Poland and Iceland take part in key literary festivals in both countries, in cities that include Krakow, Warsaw, Sopot and Reykjavík and reach out to the city libraries and the schools and preschools. The 30th of October sees a spoken-word evening - the SPOKEN ORT show - in Warsaw's Kosmos Kosmos club.
The ORT Project has been taking place since May 2013 and runs till the end of October 2013, coming to Warsaw, Krakow, Gdansk, Gdynia Sopot. The project is the work of the Book Institute in Krakow in cooperation with Icelandic partners.
Check out the ORT website for some snappy rhymes.
