Polish poet Grzegorz Bruszewski, who oragnises a regular monthly poetry slam in Warsaw, is performing at Dice Slam in Birmingham
Is it a serious competition? Is it absurdist comedy? No, it's the "Dice Slam", a truly unique event bringing together an astounding number of top international performance poets and an absurd set of rules. The poets perform, throw some dice, the result becomes their score and a hand-picked jury of quick-witted experts attempts to justify it. The audience gets to vote for their favourite critic, and in the end, poetry wins.
The event features poets from seven nations including Germany, UK, Poland, Sweden and the Netherlands, an evening of international poetry not to be forgotten.
The poets taking part include Grzegorz Bruszewski from Poland, Abby Oliveira from Ireland, Henry Bowers from Sweden, Bas Boettcher from Germany, Bernhard Christiansen from the Netherlands and Indigo Williams.
Grzegorz Bruszewski (born in 1981) started performing in March 2004. Together with Wojtek Cichoń established the Teges Szmegesproject, promoting poetry slam and delivering performance poetry workshops. In 2007, he was 26th on a list of the fifty most culturally active Warsaw citizens. In 2010, he represented Poland in the annual Poetry Slam World Cup in Bobigny, France. He organises regular monthly poetry slam in Warsaw, the oldest and the biggest poetry slam event in Poland. He has performed on many stages in Poland and elsewhere (UK, Czech Republic, Germany) and has won several slams. He facilitates performance poetry workshops in schools and youth centres.
