Małgorzata Baranowska, a Polish poet, writer, critic, literary historian and collector of pre-war images of Warsaw, has passed away a the age of 67.
She was born on the 15th of march, 1945 in Kraków. She studied Polish language and literature at the University of Warsaw, however she also worked at the university's observatory and acquired knowledge of the realm of Astronomy. After her studies, she worked at the Polish Academy of Sciences as a researcher in the literary department, later writing about literature and poetry in various magazines.
In 2000 she received the Nike Literary Prize for her "Private History of Poetry", a collection of writings and quotes from Poland's most beloved poets. She was best known as an expert on Wisława Szymborska, publishing a number of critical studies on the Nobel prize-winner and her works.
Małgorzata Baranowska died in Warsaw on the 22nd of January, 2012.
